Colorado Nonprofit Association Honors Legislative Leaders for Impact on Nonprofit Sector

Colorado Nonprofit Association honored the 2018 Nonprofit Impact Award winners at this year’s Colorado Nonprofit Conference: Intrepid at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel. The award recognizes public officials who champion sector-wide issues of critical importance to Colorado’s nonprofit organizations.

The award was presented to Senator Lois Court (D-Denver), Representative Chris Hansen (D-Denver), Representative James Wilson (R-Salida), the Colorado Department of State and the Colorado Department of Revenue for their efforts to pass the bipartisan bill, SB 18-141. SB 18-141 authorizes a new line on the tax form for 2020 called the "Donate to a Colorado Nonprofit Fund," which allows Colorado taxpayers to donate part or all of their tax refund to any nonprofit registered in Colorado.

“The passage of SB 18-141 is an example of Colorado’s collaborative spirit and cross-sector approach to solving a funding shortage,” said Renny Fagan, president and CEO of Colorado Nonprofit Association. “The financial strength of nonprofits is essential to the high quality of life we enjoy here in Colorado, and today, we recognize this year’s Nonprofit Impact Award winners for supporting charitable giving through sensible tax policies.”

Colorado Nonprofit Association is actively engaged in public policy advocacy to further the interests of the nonprofit sector and the people it serves. Each year, the Association works closely with public leaders to enact policies that not only support our nonprofits but also improve the health and well-being of Colorado’s communities.

E-Sign Our Petition! Support HPCAR's License Plate Initiative

Voice your support for HPCAR's license plate initiative! We need your help to expand the awareness of and resources for hospice and palliative care in Colorado.

The Colorado Center for Hospice & Palliative Care (COCHPC), a 501c3 affiliate of the Hospice & Palliative Care Association of the Rockies, is running a bill in 2019 to bring a special group hospice and palliative care license plate option to adults with registered vehicles in Colorado.

Your signature of support will result in a license plate option to raise money to support hospice and palliative care programs throughout Colorado. Specifically, we will add additional resources and education programs for hospice and palliative care organizations and for consumers; promote the benefits of and provide information on hospice and palliative care to Colorado communities.

Three thousand (3,000) signatures are required by the Department of Revenue) and without these signatures, and your help, we are unable to submit an application or run a bill.

We hope you will join us in this effort to bring more resources and education to consumers utilizing hospice and palliative care throughout our communities.
